I will never understand why people rage about Joan Jett but dismiss the infinitely more punk rock Chrissie Hynde.

Maybe it is because Patrick was hanging around. Wasn’t he Mr. Saab or was that someone else?

I wouldn’t call Chrissie or the Pretenders ‘punk rock’. They came out of that scene, and had a decent amount of disdain for society, but I think Hynde was pure rock n roll.
Regardless, she’s way more influential and true to it than the Runaways or Jett ever was, in my opinion. That’s also the opinion of Rolling Stone....’Pretenders’ was the #20 album of the 80's, and #155 of all time.

The Pretenders definitely weren’t punk in the sense of three chord angry music made from 1976 to 1079. By saying “more punk than,” I’m talking more about an attitude or ethos.

This is the only Saab I ever liked.
Oh, wait. Forget it....my mistake.
